Welcome to the Kirkcudbright Choral Society web site. We encourage singers of all ages and abilities to join the choir and participate in our rehearsals and concerts. We do not hold auditions for new members but an ability to sing in tune is important.

Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings in Kirkcudbright Parish Church Hall at 7.30pm. Come along and join us! We’re now taking our summer break but our next round of rehearsals starts on Monday, 1st September and runs through until April 2027.

Last Concert

Our last concert featured Vaughan Williams’ “Five Mystical Songs”, performed by baritone Simon Hart and music by Dianne Stafford.

Musical Director

Our musical Director is Rosemary White who has been leading the choir since 2023.

Rosemary graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music, then the University of Leeds with a MMus. Sharing her passion for Music with children as young as 3 and as old as 18 she taught in various schools. She spent the last 20 years of her teaching career as Director of Music at two sixth form colleges. Outside the classroom, Rosemary examined A Level music and took student choirs on tours to France, Spain and the Netherlands. She is an accomplished pianist, performing as both a soloist and accompanist to local choirs and soloists.

On retiring she moved to this area and became the accompanist to the King’s Grange Singers, based at Corsock, and continues to help with directing and accompanying them today.  Beyond music, Rosemary has a deep appreciation for the natural world and loves living in the beautiful south west of Scotland where she walks her Border Collie, Archie, and enjoys working in the garden.
